Weekend Spotlight: Pools, Cougars and a Fair in West Chicago

The Go West Calendar is light this weekend, likely because of the Labor Day holiday. But there is still plenty of fun to be had, including a few last-of-the-summer-season opportunities.

Professor Marvel's Amazing Flea Circus will be at Kline Cree Farm's Old-Fashioned Country Fair this weekend. Here a few more highlights:

WEST CHICAGO: If it's Labor Day weekend, it means it's time for the Old-Fashioned Country Fair at Kline Creek Farm. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, featuring games, entertainment, antique farm equipment and attractions such as "Dr. McRae's Tent of Wonders" and "Professor Marvel's Amazing Flea Circus." Admission is free and activities will be ongoing throughout the day.

WHEATON: Cantigny Park and the Naperville Astronomical Association are hosting a night of stargazing on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Children will get to make their own "star rings" n the Visitor's Center. Star viewing will take place on the parade field. The event is free, you'll just have to pay a $2 parking fee at Cantigny.

GENEVA: The Kane County Cougars are at home against the Peoria Chiefs from Saturday through Monday, when they will wrap up the 2012 regular season. Fireworks are scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS: Both Sunday and Monday are designated as the last "Family Days" of the season at Arlington Park. Children 17 and under receive free admission when accompanied by an adult. There will be free pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting and hands-on activities from noon to 4 p.m.
