In honor of Father's Day on Sunday, here are some weekend events that would be enjoyable with dear dad. Of course check the Go West Calendar for lots more ideas for summertime fun.
FATHER'S DAY CRAFT: The Geneva Public Library will offer a drop-in craft centered around Father's Day all day on Thursday, or while supplies last.
OUTDOOR MUSIC: Your kids can coax dad to get up and dance with them to celebrate his holdiay early at one of the multiple outdoor concerts taking place on Thursday night, including in North Aurora, St. Charles, Batavia, Aurora and Wheaton. Geneva Commons will host the band Soda on Sunday night. Check the Go West Calendar for details on times and places for all the shows.
GO COUGARS: The Kane County Cougars are in Geneva for a homestand against the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. On Sunday, the Cougars will host a "Father's Day Picnic" featuring a couple different menus depending on where you choose to sit. The least expensive package is $35 for adults, $20 for kids, and includes your game ticket, food and beverage. But whether you choose the picnic or not, all fans can play catch with dad on the field before the game and take place in the traditional Sunday "Funday" activities.
OLD-FASHIONED FUN: Blackberry Farm in Aurora will host a "vintage baseball game" on Saturday at 1 p.m. between the Ganymedes Baseball Club of Oregon and the Blue Stocking of Somonuak. You're encouraged to bring lawn chairs. The game is included in the daily admission price.
DEALS FOR DADS: Fathers get in free on Sunday (with a paid child's admission) at Otter Cove Aquatic Park and Swanson Pool, both in St. Charles, and play for free at Stone Creek Miniature Golf in Geneva. Blackberry Farm in Aurora will also be celebrating Father's Day with live music. Check the Go West Calendar for details on all those promotions.
