Fall Guide 2012: Downtown and Business District Trick-or-Treat Events

Photo by Pahz on Flickr.DOWNTOWN SYCAMORE: Businesses in downtown Sycamore will be passing out candy and other giveaways on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The night is also the kickoff to the 51st Annual Pumpkin Festival, featuring hundreds of decorated gourds on the Courthouse Lawn.
DOWNTOWN GENEVA: The businesses of downtown Geneva along Third and State streets will welcome trick-or-treaters on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Look for a "Trick or Treat" sign in the window of participating shops.
WEST CHICAGO LIBRARY: The West Chicago Public Library is hosting a "Haunted Forest" on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Little ghosts and goblins ages 3 to 12 are invited to walk through a forest filled with thrills and chills and receive a special treat. Downtown West Chicago businesses will also be handing out goodies from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. Look for a pumpkin in the window of participating businesses.
DOWNTOWN WHEATON: The Downtown Wheaton Association will host a trick-or-treat event at participating businesses on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. New this year is a costume contest at 10 a.m. by the Martin Memorial Plaza Fountain on Front Street, just west of Main Street.
THE CENTRE IN ELGIN: The 26th annual Sherman Health Halloween Family Fun Fair is Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Centre of Elgin in downtown. It doesn't look like there will be treats, but there will be family-friendly activities, health screenings and a kids costume contest starting at 11 a.m. and lasting til 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in categories including Best Character Look-Alike, Most Creative and Best Make-Up. There will also be a fire truck, police car and ambulance to tour.
YORKVILLE: The Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce is putting together a "Biz Boo!" on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during which a number of businesses in town will welcome trick-or-treaters. Check out the Yorkville Chamber site for a detailed list of participating businesses, along with their locations. There will also be a "Touch-a-Truck" opportunity on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Old Second National Bank, 26 W. Countryside Parkway.
GENEVA COMMONS: Stores in Geneva Commons, along Randall Raod, will welcome trick-or-treaters with "frighteningly ghoulicious treats" on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Look for a trick-or-treat sign in the window of participating businesses.
DOWNTOWN ELGIN: Businesses in downtown Elgin plan to offer trick-or-treating on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visit DowntownElgin.com after tomorrow for a complete list of participating businesses and a map.
AURORA MALL: The "Westfield Family Spooktacular" will be held at the Westfield Fox Valley Mall on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 4 p.m. til 7 p.m. More than 100 stores plan to participate.
