Free Music Classes in Downtown Aurora Starting Monday

Back in August, my daughter and I took a free music class at a church in downtown Aurora, and we had a wonderful time – singing, dancing, playing with new instruments and making new friends.

At our class in August. The teacher was Ree Kline, who has been involved with introducing children in the Aurora area to music and theater for many years now.

Kline is a registered Music Together teacher and she’s hoping to bring affordable Music Together classes to Aurora in coming months. But while she works to get everything ironed out with the business side of things, she wants to continue teaching.

So she’s offering up to six weeks of free classes of Early Education Music and Movement at her church, Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church at 420 W. Downer Place. The classes are in the parish house, which sits between the church and the Copley Mansion.

The classes are appropriate for infants through age 5, and she welcomes siblings, friends, cousins to come together. The max in each class is 12 children.

The classes she currently has openings for are:

  • Monday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
  • Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
  • Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
  • Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m
  • Sunday from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. (This will also feature some elements of a Sunday School class, with a storytime.)

If you are interested in any of these classes, please give Kline a call at 630-880-9570 or email her at reekline@sbcglobal.net. She’s going to start teaching her free classes this Monday, although you can join later in the session, too. In fact, Kline says she can take phone calls up to an hour before the class, so she can tell you whether the class is full.

If you want to introduce your young child to music, you won't regret giving these classes a chance.
