‘Nutcracker’ Performances in Chicago and the Suburbs

Believe me, I groaned aloud when I saw the Christmas decorations up in Lowe’s at the end of September. But now that Halloween is over, many of us are certainly starting to think about the holidays. And I personally find if I don’t plan my December calendar ahead of time – and book the events and gatherings that are important to my family – we end up trying to cram too much in at the last minute.

Photo courtesy of the Midwest Ballet Theatre, which will be performing "The Nucracker" Nov. 12-13 and Nov. 19-20 in Downers Grove. So to help your family make the most of the season, I’ll be writing over the coming week about holiday-themed events that you might want to purchase advance tickets to, or at least block space for on your calendar. Up first is a list of performances of “The Nutcracker” in Chicago and western-ish suburbs. If you know of any I’ve missed, please let me know in the comments section, and I’ll be gladt to update the list.

Here's another great deal for the Chicago area. Ringling Bros. Circus is in town, and they have a discount on tickets! They will be at the Allstate Arena from November 3 – November 13 and the United Center from November 16 – November 27, and they have a great coupon code to use on tickets! If you purchase tickets at http://www.ticketmaster.com/promo/0uq75v, then click on “M.O.M. offer” and enter the code MOM2, you will get $4 off on all weekend performances (Fri-Sun) or get 4 tickets for $44 on all weekday performances (Tues-Thurs). The code is not valid on Circus Celebrity, Front Row or VIP seats, there are no double discounts, and there is a limit of 6 per order. As an added bonus, there is FREE PARKING in all official United Center parking lots. (Go to www.unitedcenter.com for more information.) The free parking ONLY applies to the United Center shows. The Allstate Arena has paid parking. There’s also a Spanish post show concert at 2 of the shows – the 5 PM show on 11/6 at Allstate Arena and the 5 PM show on 11/20 at the United Center. If you want to attend the Spanish post show, it’s just $5 more per ticket. I work for Miles Of Marketing and this information was provided to me by them (www.milesofmarketing.com). We are a group of moms passing along great information like this to other moms!
