FAQs > The Calendar > My park district offers some cool classes I don't see listed on the calendar. Why not?
My vision for the calendar is that a busy family, realizing on a Friday night that they suddenly have Saturday afternoon free, can take a look at the Go West Young Mom calendar and find a number of fun, often free, events they could enjoy.
So I have put an emphasis in the calendar listings on events that are open to everyone, no matter where you live, and can be done on the spur-of-the-moment. Partly for that reason, I have avoided listing series of classes that you have to register for in advance. Also, I think many families at least browse through the seasonal park district and library publications to see if there are lessons or classes they want to enroll in. It's those one-time-only events that often slip away from us!
Now if events look particulary fun and noteworthy, but do require advance registration, I'll usually place those on the calendar and try to give my Facebook fans a "heads up" a week or two out that there is something cool coming down the line they should consider signing up for.
Compiling a calendar like this for such a large geographic area is a massive undertaking, as I'm sure you understand, so I can use all the help I can get. If you think there is an event or class I need to feature in the calendar, please email at me firstname.lastname@example.org.
